Mobilization pontoon marks start of Wagenborg's first decommissioning project

The mobilization of one of Wagenborg's largest sea-going pontoons involves the installation of two custom-built grillages by means of a 500 tons mobile crane. This bespoke solution highlights Wagenborg's engineering skills and deep understanding of the unique challenges posed by offshore decommissioning. Steel works for the grillage were constructed by Royal Niestern Sander.

Wagenborg's recent contract with ENI underscores its pioneering role in the decommissioning landscape. Central to this decommissioning endeavor is the Wagenborg Barge 11, one of the sea-going barges of Wagenborg. The barge, measuring 122 meters in lengthe and 36 meters in width, is perfectly suitable for carrying the G14B topside and jacket while decommissioning this offshore platform. After an accurate engineering phase, Royal Niestern Sander produced custom-made grillages. These structures are currently installed on the barge during the mobilization phase. The ability to mobilize such a sophisticated asset underscores Wagenborg's agility to handle complex decommissioning projects, providing clients with peace of mind and confidence in the process. The mobilization of Wagenborg Barge 11 is expected to be ready early August.
